Agricultural Training Centre, Fulia, Nadia, West Bengal, India has stopped applying organic matter in its Folk rice Conservation centre since 2013 and  floating Azolla was in use instead  as a source of organic matter. This year , we would like to stop using azolla in some fields . It gives profuse growth leading to less grain yield. Azolla is a low cost living organic matter - a floating fern fixes more than 50 kg of N per ha and its body becomes organic matter in the  rice fields.
