Folk Rice Copnservation For 150 years

    Mr Samatul Mandal of Ulla Village, Nalpur, Sankrail Block, West Bengal,
    India is now 82 years old. His family has been conserving a particular folk
    rice variety called Rani Akanda for the last 150 years. It is an example of
    intrinsic value seed. It is a fine rice and its taste is good. Amazingly he
    is getting the same yield that is 4 ton per ha as his grand fathers used to
    get. He is in inspiration to those who are conserving folk crops. I salute
    the living legend.
    I have taken the short video in a meeting on 20th Jan 2015. I visited his house 4 years ago.
