Mr Samatul Mandal of Ulla Village, Nalpur, Sankrail Block, West Bengal, India is now 82 years old. His family has been conserving a particular folk rice variety called Rani Akanda for the last 150 years. It is an example of intrinsic value seed. It is a fine rice and its taste is good. Amazingly he is getting the same yield that is 4 ton per ha as his grand fathers used to get. He is in inspiration to those who are conserving folk crops. I salute the living legend. I have taken the short video in a meeting on 20th Jan 2015. I visited his house 4 years ago.
Pl watch the video on Folk rice.
